Introduction to Fiber Optic Terminal Box

One of the most common questions we often receive at Hanlan is: "Do I need a fiber optic terminal box?" Usually, the first response is to ask what kind of fiber do you want to install in the building? This will determine if a box is needed.

When do I need to terminate the box

If you want to order or have more than two bundles of existing fiber optic components, we strongly recommend using a junction box because it can prevent dust and other contaminants from interfering with the connector of the component. Not to mention that it can keep all cables in order, making them easier to use when upgrading the assembly in the future.

How they work

As mentioned earlier, when the fiber optic cable is terminated or a connector is added to the end, a termination box as the name suggests will be used. Usually the fiber optic components are connected to the junction box, and then the excess components are wound on the built-in internal spool, and then connected to the fiber optic adapter panel. Then, connect the fiber optic cable from your device to the other side of the adapter panel, and then exit the junction box.

Which one to choose?

Fiber optic terminal boxes come in various shapes, sizes and materials. Choosing which component is best for your assembly will mainly depend on your own requirements, such as the number of fibers used and the available space.
